The Need for modern Cancer Institute was the dream of Late Smt. Nandamuri Basavataraka Rama Rao, wife of Late Chief Minister Sri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, who herself succumbed to the deadly disease. The Late Chief Minister and Several Philanthropists, Scientists and Physicians both India and USA too the concept further and created the today’s Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute.
