Fake Records of the Telugu cinema

The The battle of box-office records goes on..for fun or for fan sake, it always is a test of strength to satisfy egos. The actors don’t have a problem at all, the fans are the ones who create the rift and animosity. It is alleged that to break the record of Pokiri, die-hard fans of Stalin are giving it a tough fight. An anonymous fan writes, “50 days ki 50 crores gross ani fake news spread chesaaru. Latest ga Stalin 50 days centres 394 ani vesaru. Actual ga Stalin 50 days centres 200 kooda levu. Full false list print cheyinchaaru. Pokiri 299 centres 50 days record ani vaallu vesukovadam tho Stalin ki ee fake record vesaaru.” But the person doesn’t forget his sense of humour. As a finishing touch on the additions he says, “Nijaniki Pokiri kooda fake record, actual ga Pokiri 50 days centres only 280. As a repected person in the soceity Dr, padmabushan, megastar chiranjeevi is it googd?

Yamadonga to roll on

Ever since the news came out that hottest director S S Rajamouli is making a fantasy flick with hero NTR, there has been a tremendous speculation and buzz is going around this film. Much of the news that appeared in a section of the media about its financial tie-up with a big corporate company turns out to be false. Official source have denied any such proposal. That should rest the speculations.

Yamadonga (tentative title) would be produced on Vishwamitra banner and directed by Rajamouli. The film will be launched formally in a week or 10 days.

At present final touch is being given to the script. Meanwhile other formalities like cast and crew have also come to an end.

M M Keeravani is scoring the music. NTR is presently working for Rakhee and its shooting is going on at Rajamundry.

Maharadhi title announced

It’s now official. Title for Balakrishna’s film has finally been officially announced. Producer Vakada Apparao today (Sunday, October 15, 2006) announced that the film has been titled Maharadhi. P Vasu of Chandramukhi fame directs the film.

“I am glad to announce that we have chosen right title. Balayya has given me chance to produce this film. And I am producing it on my banner Sri Lalithakalanjali Productions after 22 years. In 1984 I had produced a film, Maa Intiki Randi in the direction of Kodi Ramakrishna on this banner. But after long time, I have revived the banner,” Vakada Apparao said.

“We have chosen this title because NBK plays elder of a family. Maharadhi is essentially a family drama. It’s on the lines of Mangamma gari Manavadu. Director P Vasu weaves a beautiful screenplay. We have not compromised on any thing. For the first time on Telugu screen, we have captured the beautiful locations of interior parts of Nainital, Dehradun, Prayaga. And we have also erected a huge set in Vizag, despite the fact that it can be erected in Hyderabad. We have done it only because of the script. We have not hesitated to spend money to give rich look for the film,” he said.
On NBK’s get-ups

“Many people have asked us about NBK’s hairstyle. We know its different but the getup is designed in tune with the film’s script. He appears in various getups but it all linked with the story. The mystery revealed about it only after the release of the film,” Vakada explained.

Writer Totapalli Madhu also spoke on the occasion. “Maharadhi, the title is epitome of our hero’s character in the film. Ma – Manchitanam (goodness), Ha – Hasyatvam (comic nature), Ra – Rasikathvam (romantic), Dhi – Dheeratvam is the sum of Maharadhi. He is the leader of a family,” he described.

Supreme to release 'Sainikudu' audio on 21st October.

Star producer Aswini Dutt's Sainikudu audio will be released on 21st October through Supreme music. Gunasekar is directing and Haris Jayara is composing the scores for the film. Trisha is playing female lead.

Sainikudu News

A two weeks schedule of Mahesh Babu, Trisha starrer Sainikudu was completed at Kodaikanal last Sunday during which some action scenes and a song was picturised by director Gunasekhar.

Sainikudu is the most exciting project on the floor in Telugu film industry and it has a potential to be sold for more than 35 Crore worldwide! Already Tamil superstar Vijay is pestering Ashwin Dutt, the producer to sell the remake rights of the film.

Gunasekhar is a total professional and his combination with Mahesh Babu is deadly. The buzz is that nearly 60 percent of the films talkie portion is complete with three songs. Three more songs remain to be canned and post production work will take at least two months as there are lots of graphics in the film.

The October end release date being talked about in the trade looks impossible at the moment. In all probability, Sainikudu will make it to the theatres only by 2007 Sankranthi.

Dasavatharam taking off with songs

Works of much awaited Kamal Asin starrer Dasavatharam is progressing discreetly at undisclosed locations.

Kamal is sporting 10 different get ups in this movie and to rope in the best ever make up, Kamal flew to New York with Director K.S. Ravikumar and tried out looks to suit the movie. Much to many’s surprise the actor even held a photo session of the movie at New York.

After the New York trip the director actor duo got busy in finalizing the cast for the movie. Shreya, Trisha and Vidhya Balan’s names were considered to play the lead lady of Kamal.

While Shreya could not break the contract with Shankar that no movies of her should go public before the release of Shivaji, Vidhya Balan backed out stating that she has no bulk call sheets. It was the ravishing Asin who bagged the contract and we hope you remember our reports about her playing the double role.

Kamal and the director are now in Mumbai busy with the songs composition with Bollywood sensation Himesh Reshammiya. Himesh started his recording yesterday with Udit Narayan.

Kamal and K.S are expected in Chennai soon after the recording of atleast three songs by Himesh.

Vikram's 'Pirates of the East Coast Chennai'

Looks like, Vikram who is synonymous with experimenting is trying his hands on a pirate movie. His movie would be about the pirates who were believed to be dwelling in the east coast of Madras during the reign of British.

Aware of a few incidents related to the desi pirates, vikram is planning to develop and plot a story from that.

Tollywood Stars charge high in Indian Film Industry?

Though the Bollywood Industry looks big and make huge business even internationally, Tollywood stars charge more compare to Bollywood stars. After Rajanikath who charges Rs 20 crores for film, the tollywood stars stand in line after Rajani.

Regarding heroines remuneration, Bollywood heroines are charging more. Aishwarya Roy is charging Rs 2crores per film. Preethi Jintha and Raani Mukharjee are charging Rs.1.5 crores.

In Tollywood Trisha 's remuneration is Rs 1crore for film and Ileana charging Rs 75 lakhs.

NTR's Rakhee in second schedule.

Durga arts banner is making this film Rakhee with Jr NTr and Krishna Vamsy. The film's first schedule was completed with short span of one week by shooting a holy song.

Dharani impresses Rajinikanth

It is quite uncommon for Superstar Rajinikanth to start work on his next project even before one is completed. Besides, he takes a long break after finishing a film.

But, post-Chandramukhi, Rajini seems to have changed his approach and listens to scripts from leading directors. AR Murugadoss, KSR, Dharani and many others have given some plots to him. Rajini reportedly is impressed with Dharani’s yarn and asked him to develop the script. Dharani has just finished the task and narrated to him the full script and waiting for Superstar’s nod. If things work out well, Dharani could be directing Superstar’s next film. Bravo!

The badshah of entertainment joins hands with a director known for his impeccable talent at making masala entertainers. The result would surely be fireworks.

Nag & Vinayak with Kodali Movies.

Producer Kodali Nani is planning a film with hero Nagarjuna and director V V Vinayak and this film is likely to go to sets from February 2007.

After completing Boos, Nag has to do a film for producer M L Kumara Choudary and V V Vinayak's film with Prabhas will be completed by January 2007.

So after this , Nag's project with V V will begin in February 2007.

Rajani Kanth was Hospitalized.

Rajanikanth was suffered from body pains during Sivaji shoot. Peter Hynes was composing the fight sequences with Rajani when the pain developed in Rajani's body.

Rajani was taken to the hospital immediately and doctors advised the hero to take rest and nothing to worry about pain. As for the doctors, the pain developed due to restless work.

Kamal’s VV censored. Ready to hit the screens?

Kamal’s Telugu/tamil Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu has finally cleared all the hurdles and is ready for release. The Censor Board too has given its certification— an ‘A’ certificate.

Normally, a movie is screened at a preview theatre for the Censor Board panel to obtain certification. But this time, Producer Seventh Channel Narayanan chose to screen the film in his own office. A digital format of the movie was screened for the Board on last Sunday.

Why did the Board go for ‘A’ Certification?

The Board thought that some scenes of violence and some intimate scenes of Kamal and Kamalini required only adult viewing. Thus the A certification.

Khaja Moideen who came to know that the film has been censored, is now raising arms that, he as a producer, doesn’t know about the film having ever gone for Censor Board Certification.

Does that man have anything up his sleeve again?

The Master’s Voice—who will dub for Rajini?

Remember that we carried a story on this site that Rajini’s daughter, Soundharya, was making a cartoon film with Superstar as the lead character? Well, now that the animated film is in the final stages, the question has arisen as to who would lend voice to the Rajini character. Soundharya initially thought there was no better person that her dad himself, who was so conversant with all the South Indian languages and also Hindi. But now she doesn’t want to disturb him with his work with Sivaji.

She therefore wanted someone to dub for Rajini. After considering many talented guys like Dhamu, she zeroed in on Chinni Jayanth. He is a good mimicry artiste and when it comes to imitating the Superstar’s voice, there is none to beat him. Jayanth met the Superstar recently on the sets of Sivaji and told him about Soundharya’s hiring his voice. Rajinikanth gave out his characteristic laugh and said: “All the best, Chinni. Hope you would deliver excellently!”

Pokiri’s dream run at the box office has apparently made its producer think twice about celebrating its 100-day run in August. The buzz is that the producer is planning to celebrate its silver jubilee function in October as the film has broken all records in the Telugu film industry. Hits and misses of Tollywood

Oh, what a rocking half-year it was for the Telugu film industry! There were more highs than lows in the last six months that have passed by and the industry is deliriously happy as its raining big bucks. Coming after a disastrous 2005 wherein Telugu films received a drubbing from the dubbed invasion, the feeling is yet to sink in for the majority of the industrywallahs. More than ten films have clicked at the box office, with one of them making an all-time record of sorts. It is indeed a remarkable feat achieved by the industry in the first half of its 75th year. There have been several flops too but the high success rate of some films has wiped out whatever despondency was there in the industry.

The year started on a happy note with three of the Sankranthi releases, Lakshmi, Devdasu and Style, turning into blockbusters, though the last two picked up slowly. Even the spiritual Sri Ramadasu was a big success and is still going strong. Then came Pokiri, which is described as the biggest all-time grosser of the industry. This Maheshbabu starrer is shattering box office records and may soon cross the Rs 40 crore mark which Chandramukhi achieved last year. Following Pokiri are Devdasu, Lakshmi and Sri Ramadasu (grossing Rs 20 crore each as per trade guides). Close on the heels of these films come Pawan Kalyan’s Bangaram, Gopichand’s Ranam and EVV’s comedy Kitakitalu. Even an average film like 10th Class managed to do well at the box office. Shekhar Kammula’s Godavari which received critical acclaim, however, failed to match Anand’s success but the trade guides put this film’s earning at a modest level mainly due to its overseas success.

The damper of the first half, however, was MS Raju’s Pournami. There was a lot of expectation from this film as it came after Nuvvu Vosthanante Nenuoddantana with Prabhudeva at the megaphone and Prabhas and Trisha in the lead. But even MS Raju’s screenplay failed to recreate the magic. The other damp squib was Kalyanram’s Asadhyudyu which came after Athonokkade, besides Balakrishna’s Veerabhadra and Allu Arjun’s Happy.

Interestingly, there was no Chiranjeevi-starrer in the first half of the year which generally accounts for a major chunk of the box office earnings. Lakshmi emerged as the biggest hit in Venkatesh’s career. Mahesh Babu-Puri Jagannath’s Pokiri which was released on April 28, is still running to packed houses even after completing 50-day run in 299 centres and is headed for silver jubilee in many theatres.

The end of the first half saw the release of Vikramarkudu which has Raviteja playing dual role for the first time. This film was directed by S S Rajamouli and seems set to hit the bull’s-eye. Then there is the much talked about NTR starrer Ashok which will be released in the first month of the second half of the year besides the megastar’s Stalin. A lot of care is being taken for this film as Chiru’s last two films failed to live up to expectations. The Boys pair Sidharth and Genelia is coming together once again in Bommarillu and Venkatesh’s Adavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule and Nagarjuna’s Boss are getting the final touches. The year-end may see Puri Jagan’s another film titled Desamuduru starring Allu Arjun.

With an impressive line-up of films, the rest of the year too appears quite promising. So when it is time to take stock of the second half, there is every possibility of more hits leaving the producers delighted.

Last year made the Telugu film industry go red in the face as it failed to muster hits to match the dubbed films that floored the audience. Last year also saw Chandramukhi which became the top grosser with Rs 40 crore followed by Aparachithudu, Manmadha and Premisthe. Though superstar Rajnikanth is a household name in Andhra, the other heroes who made an impact were Vikram and Surya. These films not only made our technicians scurry for better scripts, but also showed them where they went wrong. This exercise seems to have paid off as 2006 started on a positive note. However, there were still some producers who wanted to cash in on the prevailing mood and dubbed some Tamil flicks this year too which bombed at the box office excepting Pandem Kodi which managed a 50-day run.

Apart from the industry, its children who wait eagerly for an NTR film. Besides being fans of NTR, the kids are bowled by the weapons the Junior sports in his flicks. Visual effects festival

PiXelloid, a VFX company, claimed to have screened their work Amigo, a two-minute song sequence in the Telugu film Oka V Chitram, at Visual Effects Society festival held in Hollywood. “For the first time, a non-Hollywood work has been selected for the prestigeous festival,” said the team-head Yugandhar, who is elated about his work being screened alongwith special effects giants like Superman Returns, Cars and Poseidon. “We created a semi surrealisitc CG city and a live action character is shown dancing amidst skyscrapers with camera moving around her dynamically,” informs Yugandhar who claims to have done visual effects for more than 50-odd films including Super, Mass and Pokiri in the one-year of its inception. “Besides a breathtaking song for Sainikudu, we are also working on a CG trailer for a Hollywood flick,” said the head of a 20-member team who also impart precision training at moderate cost.
