Engineering course to begin on Sept. 24
The classes for first year engineering students in the state will commence on September 24. The Officials of higher education department who met here on Friday to finalise the Eamcet counselling sessions for the remaining phases have decided to conclude the admissions process by September 23.

The second phase of counselling for engineering will be conducted between August 18 and 29 in which candidates belonging to SC, ST, BC-A, BC-C and BC-E categories would be called.

In the first phase, which concluded on Thursday, students of all categories from Rank 1 to Rank 54,000 were called for counselling.

While a total of 1,31,481 seats in convenor-quota were on offer, only 44,073 seats were filled up.

The streams in which seats were filled up include CSE (11,066 seats), ECE (15,845), EEE (6,130), Mechanical (2,945), Civil (1,301), IT (4,802) and other branches (1,984).

The "web-based counselling" for students who attended the first phase would be conducted from August 22 to 30.

Such students can directly claim vacant seats online by logging on to the Internet the password for which was given to them on a scratch card. Students need not visit the centres again for admissions.

"The final phase will be from September 2 to 23. Candidates from BC-A and BC-D categories will be called for the engineering counselling," said the chairman of the AP State Council of Higher Education, Mr K.C. Reddy.

"The first year classes for engineering students in the state will commence from September 24," Mr Reddy added.
